Congratulations and great work to Louis Dreyfus Travocean on the successful completion of their 10km fiber optic shore end installation in Perth, Western Australia!
Louis Dreyfus Travocean took an ingenious approach to the project and completed it using a local platform barge of 36 x 16 meters and the installation of a Thrustmaster portable dynamic positioning system (PDPS) consisting of four (4) 150 hp integrated full skid hydraulic outboard azimuthing propulsion units.
The four (4) outboard propulsion units can be seen below positioned two and two at the bow and stern of the barge.
Louis Dreyfus Travocean noted the “PDPS is an innovative solution for submarine cable installation, and it gave entire satisfaction for this project,” especially considering the difficult and unpredictable weather conditions with the famous sea breeze ‘Fremantle Doctor’.
